<lj:music>Flogging Molly - Cruel Mistress</lj:music>

So I was talking to one of the few of my coworkers I can actually stand, and he was saying he has a job offer to go be a fireman instead of work here. (He should. Anything is better than here. Except maybe the army. Maybe.)

And we got to talking about how nobody appreciates (or wants to pay) civil servants for the work they do, as opposed to other countries. Fireman and teachers and police and the like. And I was trying to think of a bad word for Fireman, and I realized there wasn't one. So I was like 'I was gonna make an insulting joke but I can't.'

And he went 'that's cause there are no good fireman, bad fireman.' By which he meant, firemen pretty much help whoever happens to be on fire at the time, as opposed to being a bit more selective about what they do.

But what I thought, was more of a 'good cop, bad cop' interogation routine. Which prompted this:

Good Fireman: "Hey there Fire, how ya doin' today?"
Bad Fireman:"Alright Fire, you get yourself out or you and me are gonna have a problem."
Good Fireman:"Hey buddy, relax! Don't mind him, fire. Would you like some gas? Go get him some gas."
Bad Fireman: "Screw the gas! I'm gonna put this bastard out Right Here, Right Now!"
Good Fireman: "Woah, woah there...look, can I talk to you...?"

And so on and so forth. Man, it's a good thing I amuse myself...

<lj:music>Bare Naked Ladies - Falling for the First Time (Ipod)</lj:music>

On any given day at work, I typically write between five and ten pages of...whatever I'm currently working on, between calls. On a good day, I'll write fifteen, and on a bad day I'll write two.

I have written exactly three words today. I am uncertain where this would fall on the 'graph of failure', as it were.

I bring three seperate notebooks to work, two of which are specific projects and one is random crap that pops into my head. Just in case I have a muse for one or the other...I don't have the attention span to finish any One project, after all.

But there's nothing today. Not a thing. Less than a thing. I'm just...unfocused and tired and itchy (i forgot to shave) and I really, really wanna go home.

But I can't go home...

man, this post is whiny.

I believe in Harvey Dent.

So for the advertizements for the next batman, they've been using the slogan 'I Believe in Harvey Dent.' It's an interesting line, except we've been told that the Batman movie focuses, at least in part, on the Joker.

This is a shame.

I am sure the movie would be awesome, but if they made a film based on The Long Halloween, it would be absolutely amazingly cool. It's the story of Harvey's downfall, from being a hallowed and beloved district attorney to a literal basket case, and it's one of the best Year One batman stories ever written. It takes place over an entire year, and follows the crimes of a mob-killing criminal named Holiday.

The line, however, is uttered by his wife. And is the perfect ending to the story. Man, I'm a nerd, but it would be so cool to see thatturned into a movie somehow.

And now I wanna read it again but I left it at Dee's. *mutter*

Anyone know anything about the Republican senator from Oragon, last name of 'Smith'? He was the only Republican other than Hagel (my favorite republican!) who was brave enough to vote with the dems on the troop withdrawl/budget bill.

I can't believe that actually passed. Bush will veto it, of course, but still...impressive.

I know I never write in here but it's late and I can't sleep. In fact, it's 1:06 in the AM, and I have to be up in four hours and 52 minutes. I probably won't fall asleep till at least 2, to be fair. I do this all the time.

I used t think, well, it's alright, I'll be so tired I'll fall asleep early tomorrow...but that isn't true at all. I'll get a little over four hours of sleep tonight, and I'll Still be up till at least 1 tomorrow. My mother is the same way, she's had a sleep pattern like this for years.

So, I'm wondering, anyone else like this? Living on little sleep? Are you tired a lot? I'm not...I mean, occasionally I get these waves of tiredness, but I'm rarely 'exhausted' as it were. Do some people just need less sleep than others?
